2003 m. kovo 10 d., Lietuvos ambasadoje ambasadoriaus V. Ušacko kvietimu
pažymint Lietuvos Nepriklausomybės atkūrimo dieną susirinkę Amerikos lietuvių
verslo ir filantropijos atstovai aptardami, kaip geriausia panaudoti Amerikos
lietuvių verslo potencialą, kontaktus bei sukauptas žinias skatinant Lietuvos
ūkio plėtrą, plečiant dvišalius Lietuvos ir JAV verslo ryšius, nutarė įsteigti
Amerikos lietuvių ekonominės plėtros patarėjų taryba /American Lithuanian
Economic Development Advisory Council (ALEPPT /ALEDAC) prie Lietuvos Respublikos
ambasados Vašingtone.

The American Lithuanian Economic Development Advisory Council (ALEDAC) has been
set up under the Lithuanian embassy in Washington, in efforts to use the
community's potential, contacts and expertise for economic development in the
mainland and for bilateral business ties. Lithuanian Ambassador in Washington,
V. Usackas, said the idea of founding a consultative council appeared as the
Lithuanian community members in the US were successful in business world and
owned flourishing companies.
"I have invited you to the embassy to discuss new business bridges between
Lithuania and the US. We attach a great importance to your advice and contacts
in quest of ways to a broader business world and in forging ties with the
largest American corporations," the ambassador spoke at a council meeting last
on March 10. The Lithuanian-American entrepreneurs are expected to provide
advice in four domains: fresh American investments in Lithuania and promoting
Lithuanian goods export to the US, support to IT development, in-bound tourism
expansion, and assistance to social and economic programs in rural districts.
Participants of the meeting included: Eugene C. Rainis (“Brown Brothers
Harriman”), Juozas Krivickas (“iPhrase technologies, Inc.”), Audrey Gruss
(“Martin & Audrey Gruss Foundation”), Saulius Anužis (“Quick Connect”), Stanley
